september 11, 2001:
i was in the fifth grade, and my mom was ratting my bangs for school.
my dad came in and told my mom that a plane had just sit the twin towers...
i didn't know what that meant.
it wasn't until i got to school and watched it on tv that i realized what was going on.
i remember sitting at the top of the playground with brittany and becky, thinking the plane was going to hit us next.
we were so scared.
i'll never forget the images of crying kids in the streets of new york, looking for their parents that didn't make it out alive.
the awful images of people jumping out of the buildings to escape the fire will never leave my mind.
songs and stories from nine-eleven will never cease to make me cry every time i hear them.
but also, i will never forget the feeling of unity and love that seemed to radiate from every person in our blessed nation:
the feeling of togetherness that has seemed to die out, until days like today when you can feel the faint shadow of it breaking through the day-to-day rush.
united we stand, divided we fall.
did you forget?
it has been nine years now...
never forget.
never forget.
