i realized today...i've lived in orem for over a year.
do you know what this means?
i am a legitimate citizen of utah county.
when someone asks, where are you from? i won't be lying if i say ...orem.
and do you want to know the truth?
i cried when i realized this.
i miss richfield.
...seeing people i know, everywhere i go.
...how easy it was to break the rules.
...the minimal traffic and stoplights.
...people recognizing me by my order at taco bell.
...feeling like i meant something. being known. like i wasn't just another person on the street.
...the family feeling of a small town.
...the fact that every friend i had lived within 5 minutes drive of my house.
...the carefree feeling of living at home.
...the oldschool bowling alley.
...canaling.
...friday night football games that can be heard from my house.
...sitting on my porch with my parents and watching the cars go by.
...morg parties.
...karol, alex, jessica, and michael.
...the south sevier rivalry.
...being able to walk everywhere if necessary.
...ideal dairy.
...even the drama.
if i could go back && relive those days...
i would cherish every moment of high school. i would never turn down an invitation to hang out. i'd complain less and appreciate more. i'd make my bed every morning and make sure my parents knew i appreciated them. i'd eat more taco time and less subway. i'd be involved in the community. i'd walk more places. i'd go on adventures with my best friends. i would blog about every moment right here. (:
i honestly never thought this day would come.
but really, who ever does? all we ever want to do is get out of the "hellhole" we all grew up knowing as home. once we leave, we start to realize what i good thing we had going back in little sevier county. the high school life was the good life.
i don't think i'll ever be able to say i'm from orem. no matter what, when someone asks me where i'm from, i know what the answer will be...
"i'm from richfield, and i love it."
"back where i come from, where i'll be when its said and done, i'm proud as anyone, back where i come from. some say its a backward place, narrow minds on a narrow way. i make it a point to say that's where i come from." --kenny chesney
