sundance film festival

as part of the honors program at uvu, i got the chance this weekend to go to the sundance film festival in park city, utah. if you aren't familiar with sundance, it's pretty much a place where independent filmmakers bring their movies for world premiers and stuff like that. they are tons of people and all the actors that are in the movies are usually up there roaming around. when i found out that we got to go to this i was super excited! i've never seen an actor or actress in real life and all i could think was, "if taylor lautner is there i will DiE!" unfortunately, he wasn't but there were a lot of others!

the first film i went to was called "blue valentine" starring ryan gosling [[from the notebook]] and michelle williams. i am proud to say that i sat about 10 feet away from ryan gosling all throughout the screening and i was lovestruck! well, that was until the movie started. i was quite turned off when he started dropping the f-bomb every other word and having sex on screen. seriously, what is this world coming to? no one can even make a cute love movie without sex! it is disgusting! it was definitely a movie i would rather have not seen, and i lost all my love for ryan gosling ;)

the second movie i went to was called "the killer inside me" starring casey affleck, kate hudson, jessica alba, and bill pullman. from the name of it you would think it would be way worse than blue valentine but it was amazingly mild comparatively. sure, there was some violence [[the plot of the story is this schizophrenic guy who beats women]] and a little sex, but it was much cleaner and done more tastefully. it was presented in a way that is real life and made me realize that these kinds of things happen all the time. domestic violence is a much bigger issue than anyone realizes. it really opened my eyes to things i need to be aware of so i don't get myself in that situation and i am so glad that i went to see it.

if i had the choice again, i don't think i would go back to sundance film festival, but it is definitely an experience i am glad i had and i think i can better myself from it. plus, i got to see sexy ryan gosling for real. i love my life :)
