april 5, 2011: a day without shoes.

sponsored by TOMS shoes in order to raise awareness for all the children who have to live every day without shoes.

the day consisted of wearing a TOMS shirt to raise awareness, weird looks from basically everyone, a trip to the testing center, hanging out in a tanning salon, olive garden, and loving the feeling of supporting a cause...

all while not wearing any shoes.

my feet started to hurt after a while, but it was rainy, and my feet eventually went numb from the cold. i can only hope that it is at least always warm outside for those poor kids who live every day without shoes.

there were moments where i wished every day could be a day without shoes, until i realized how painful it would be. looking at how cut up my feet were after just one day, i can only imagine how sore, infected, and painful it would be to go like this every day. especially in a third world country.

this was a fun experience, and those of you that were too embarrassed to participate really missed out!  ...but in all seriousness, it really opened my eyes to how lucky i am to be blessed with what i have & only confirmed the fact that i want to travel abroad and help these kids. i will do it, just you wait.
