"one voice, singing in the darkness. all it takes is one voice, singing so they hear what's on your mind and when you look around you'll find there's more than one voice..."
--one voice choir :)
today, for the first time in 3 years, the one voice tour bus will be rolling out of richfield's youth center parking lot without me on it. i can't help but wish that i was going; one voice was one of my favorite things about high school. some of the best friends i ever had were made because of one voice. it was like a second family to me. here are some of my favorite one voice memories :)
my first year: the best year of one voice, in my opinion.
-traysen was in the choir (he was the only reason i ever made it in the first place!)
-we got to do some of the best songs (all by myself. you don't own me. my girl.)
-my best friend iKE was in the choir with me.
-"baby turn. she sits around. she GETS around."
-"this shirt makes me look pregnant."
"you are pregnant. its preston's fault!"
-josh acker. preston manwill. colin anderson.
-knotsberry farm.
altos united: au peace out rock on BROOMMATES!
-a week before tour my sophomore year, we decided to take an adventure up to the attic of the tabernacle. (experience of a lifetime) some certain boys in the choir thought it would be funny to follow us and scare us, causing us to scream and attract the attention of the directors. we were in deep.
-rumors that we were doing witchcraft in the attic spread throughout the choir, along with the fact that we were to get kicked out of the choir. (don't worry, they were just rumors)
-au was born (altos united. altos definitely have more fun!) everyone knew us as the "witches" and we weren't allowed to sit by each other at practices or room with each other on tour because we were such trouble makers. we still managed to sit by each other by cheating on our height in the lineups and we also were able to room together our last night on tour :)
-au kind of died when our president, tambrea allen, graduated. eventually, i was the only one left, but that was okay because i'll always have the memories :)
AiDS-- bless tanner mcallister's heart. most of my memories involve this kid.
-every boy that ever hung around me at one voice that was south sevier was deemed to have AiDS.
-it all started with preston manwill. they actually called him "AiDS" for the longest time and i don't think he liked it very much.
-apparently, i have contracted AiDS at least six times from different people. watch out.
tanner mcallister-- love him.
-watching across the universe and never finishing.
-falling asleep on each other.
-holding hands across the aisle to make fun of people.
-singing. loud. for hours.
-making fun of EVERYONE.
-sitting on laps until my legs go numb.
-"the long and winding road, THAAAAT..."
-not being allowed to be partners in any dances.
-tanner was probably one of the highlights of my time on one voice. he was so hilarious and we always had such a good time.
the rest:
-the fact that dr. b was always mean until my senior year, when he was suddenly the coolest ever and became my foster papa b.
-art the bus driver.
-homestays. "potatoes, yeah. yeah, potatoes. potatoes."
-janet singing lullabies.
-performing & the rush it gives.
-chulks.
i could go on and on forever about my 3 years of memories with this choir. i am going to risk sounding like a loser and say that i LOVED it and miss it so much. i would go back if i could, but i can't so i'm just gonna keep revisiting the memories :)
